The Gu Long Gorge Scenic Area is a National AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national sports tourism demonstration base, an international rafting competition venue, and a designated track by the General Administration of Sport of China. It serves as a new landmark for tourism in northern Guangdong. The Gu Long Gorge Scenic Area is actively striving to become a National AAAAA-level tourist attraction. Located in Binjiang Canyon, Qingxin District, Qingyuan City, it is 68 kilometers away from downtown Guangzhou, at the intersection of the Guangqing Expressway, Qinglian Expressway (Xuguan Expressway), and Shan-Zhan Expressway.
Beneath the towering peaks with a kilometer of height difference, the Gu Long Grand Canyon integrates waterfalls, deep pools, peculiar rocks, and jungles. Cliffs confront each other, strange peaks soar, silver waterfalls splash, the beaches are abundant, and the water is swift. The primitive rainforest covers the sky year-round, offering pleasant weather. The characteristics of the scenery can be summarized by ten words: "peculiar, hidden, charming, ingenious, secluded, vast, astonishing, perilous, comprehensive, ancient." The scenic area and its surroundings preserve 3,000 hectares of subtropical primeval forest, with a forest coverage rate of 95%. The concentration of negative oxygen ions reaches up to 10,000/cm³, making it a great place for refreshing lungs and clearing the mind.
The Qing Dynasty poet Yuan Mei once described the magnificent and profound scenery of the Gu Long Gorge Scenic Area as "thousands of mountains resembling surging waves, springs murmuring and streams flowing. Stepping on floating clouds, the scenery of pine waves is extraordinary."
